Using Live Link – on display at the company’s booth – construction crews using a mobile app can open and close lanes right from the work zone. Based on one.network’s UK platform,traffic management and work zone teams can plan lane or road closures ahead of time, with simple and easy-to-use applications. Plus, they can respond quickly to emergencies, always keeping the public up-to-date with changes to the road network, explains James Harris, chief executive of one.network.
“Work zone fatalities are trending in the wrong direction,” he said. “One of America’s most respected agencies, FDOT recognised the urgent need for this kind of solution to protect work crews and drivers.”
Florida road data from Live Link is already being delivered in near real-time, to drivers through GPS mapping provider WAZE, with the other navigation companies expected to follow soon. “It’s a solution that can be replicated anywhere,” said Harris.
Already, one.network’s smart work zone technology has been extensively vetted in the UK where it is used by the majority of road agencies.
