Moovit has made its Transit Data Manager app and a web journey planner available to riders using and planning trips on Irish Citylink coaches.
Passengers are now covered if they need to use other bus, rail, ferry, bikes, or Uber to get to one of Citylink’s 38 stops across Ireland.
The Moovit app combines official Citylink information with crowdsourced data to calculate the best route for each journey with additional urban mobility options.
Luke Redfern, Moovit’s partnership manager in the UK and Ireland, says: “Good first- and last-mile options makes public transport more attractive to travellers, and precise journey planning information helps passengers avoid delays and lessen waiting times.”
Users can see when their vehicle is arriving, view 'live directions' and receive 'get off' alerts with guidance for the entire journey.
The app is optimised with screen reading features for low-vision users, including talkback/voiceover capabilities and identifies wheelchair-accessible routes and stations. It also has menus and buttons for those with hand-motor disabilities.
Moovit's Transit Data Manager software allows Citylink to publish changes to routes, stops, timetables and service disruptions directly to the app. This allows passengers to view the most updated and precise public transport information.
The multimodal web journey planner is available on the Citylink website, allowing passengers to plan journeys using mixed modes of transport.
