TRL is partnering with Australia's National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO) to bring the iRoads digital platform to the South Pacific region.

Developed by TRL Software, iRoads is already used by the UK’s National Highways to manage its Strategic Road Network, and uses advanced analytics, AI and machine learning to provide real-time data and insights into road conditions, traffic flows and infrastructure health.

The collaboration "will support governments and transport agencies across the region in addressing their unique challenges, from managing remote and rugged terrains to responding to the impacts of climate change", TRL says.

Dr. Paul Zanelli, director of TRL Software, says: "This collaboration aligns with our commitment to advancing transport research and delivering solutions that make roads safer and more efficient. By combining our strengths with NTRO's regional expertise, we are confident that iRoads will transform the way road networks are managed across the South Pacific."

NTRO CEO Michael Caltabiano called it "a significant opportunity for the South Pacific region", adding that iRoads "will empower local and federal transport authorities with the tools they need to enhance road infrastructure and safety".

TRL has pledged that there will be comprehensive training and support for local transport authorities in the use of iRoads, and says the collaboration will also include joint research initiatives to further develop transport solutions tailored to the specific needs of the region.
